Kudos to Anne McCarthy, Senior Vice President of Global Communications at SAP for getting a televised corporate plug for her company at the SAP Open with her name and job title superimposed on the screen, at the ATP Tournament in San Jose, which the software company sponsors. But at the time of this posting, Anne’s job title listed in SAP’s online pressroom is Head of Customer Communications.
Case in point…just cause you’re a technology company, doesn’t mean your online public relations program is in synch with your outbound marketing communications efforts. Keeping your web presence coordinated with your organization requires an ongoing commitment. Since your website is the first place most people go to check you out, it’s important you keep your story straight. If you’re website is out of synch with your external marcomm programs, the impression is that someone is sleeping on the job.
Online public relations outsourcing programs are one way to avoid repeatedly falling into this trap. Let’s hope Anne finds this blog post and changes the page.
