Pacifica Appoints New CEO and Executive Director 

Los Angeles, Calif.-London, U.K./February 26, 2001 - A majority stake in Pacifica Media Affiliates (PMA), the world's second largest entertainment post-production sound company, has been acquired by The Television Corporation plc (FTSE: TCP), a London-based, TV facilities and production company. 

Under the terms of the deal, The Television Corporation's (TTC) equity share in PMA rises from 50 percent to 75 percent. PMA's former president, Galen Walker becomes CEO and PMA's former executive vice president, Ricky DeLena becomes executive director. Walker and DeLena retain PMA's outstanding 25 percent equity stake and also take full operational control over the audio post-production entity. PMA's former controller, Chuck Valdez, moves up to chief financial officer. PMA's former CEO, Dana Arnold and former Chairman Hal Katersky have resigned, effective immediately. 

PMA's new chairman of the board is Terry Bate, who presides with new directors Galen Walker, Ricky DeLena and Chris Rowlands. A fourth and final board seat will assigned at a later date. 

"With the support of The Television Corporation, Pacific Media Affiliates has every intention of becoming the industry's leading post-production sound editorial alternative to the major studios and Liberty Livewire," said Galen Walker, who along with Ricky DeLena negotiated the deal with TTC Chairman Terry Bate and TTC CEO Chris Rowlands. Pacifica Media Affiliates is a Los Angeles-based holding company that owns and operates Echo Sound Services, Weddington Productions, Pacifica Sound Group, Digital Sound Works and Larson Sound Center.

"Expect to hear a great deal more about Pacifica Media Affiliates over the next six to eight months."

Prior to joining Pacifica Media Affiliates as President in 1999, Galen Walker was president of Digital Sound Works, which he founded in 1995. Before that, Walker was a musician/composer and a guitarist for artists Edgar Winter and Cher. Post-Production Sound Supervisor Ricky DeLena began as a recording engineer in the studio working with artists Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart and The Rolling Stones. DeLena joined Walker's Digital Sound Works in 1997. Chuck Valdez received an M.B.A. in Finance from Pepperdine University and was formerly V.P. of Finance and Information Systems for Universal Studios for nine years before joining Pacifica Media Affiliates as corporate controller in October 2000.

In addition, Weddington's superb teams of editors and sound designers have received numerous Golden Reel award nominations, winning several times. Digital Sound Works has an 8000 square foot facility in Burbank, Calif. with 12 editorial suites, two video projection 5.1 dubbing stages and a full size THX 5.1 film mastering projection stage. 

Digital Sound Works is a post-production sound company with a full-time staff of 24 editors and four supervisors. Consecutively during each of the last five years, Digital Sound Works has finished no less than 20 theatrical feature films per year. The company specializes in all aspects of post-production sound design for independent feature films, and recently completed "My First Mister" and "Things Behind the Sun," both of which screened in competition at Sundance 2001. Digital Sound Works is a non-union sound design company that offers sound editorial services to independent filmmakers. 

Since 1987, Larson Sound Center ( has operated as a full service post production sound facility with eight sound effects and dialogue editing suites, two ADR/Foley stages, two separate 3-mixer re-recording stages, a 2-mixer re-recording stage and an in-house sound transfer department.
