Cuban heavyweight Felix Savon took the first step toward a fourth world amateur boxing championship, knocking out Derrell Dixon of the United States in the third round at Tampere, Finland.

All four Cubans won, with welterweight Juan Hernandez and light-heavyweight Ramon Garbey stopping their opponents in the first round.

In the welterweight class, Orlando Hollis of the U.S. Army at Ft. Hood, Tex., secured a place in the round of 16 by outpointing Svetislav Stojkovic of the former Yugoslavia.
