LA Times Gives Defamer.com’s Lisanti His 15 Minutes

According to freelance writer Chris Lee, who has a cynical story in today’s Los Angeles Times Calendar section about the legitimacy of two current celebrity romances making news, entertainment and celebrity gossip blogger Mark Lisanti is an expert on all things Tomkat and Brangelina. The irony is that Lisanti’s blog, dubbed Defamer, which seeks to debunk and thus defame celebrity-related spin, is taking it’s own 15 minutes of fame, by weighing in as an authority.

But even more cynical is the Los Angeles Times editorial staff which runs a piece today suggesting that denial works better than transparency in the world of celebrity public relations. Here’s an excerpt:

“Instead, we are more likely to believe that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had a thing going precisely because it was so emphatically denied and because both parties went to great lengths to avoid the paparazzi. Then again, Brad and Angelina also have a new movie to promote, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” which opens Friday. Maybe they just have more clever publicists.”
