Jason Calcanis to Kill SEO

Sam Whitmore and I just heard Jason Calacanis deliver his lunch keynote at Online PR Convergence 07 in Los Angeles, and he was both prolific and hysterical. Unfortunately, Stowe Boyd dropped out at the last minute because while he may be technologically advanced, he struggles with his calendar and double booked us with a conference in Europe.

But Jason was great! Funny, provocative, insightful and ballsy. Loved it! He’s a boat rocker, so you got take him with a grain slat, but he was just what our conference needed to expand our awareness level.

According to Jason, SEO is evil. It’s wrong. And he wants it stopped.

Here’s a direct quote:

“I’m going to kill SEO. I have the solution. Stay tuned. Watch my blog.” To avid bloggers, this isn’t news. Jason’s but anti-SEO for some time now.

But he also said “PR is the SEO of MSM,” which gives you some idea what he thinks about public relation people. A PR person at a major Hollywood studio in the audience told me afterwards they thought he was a “cybersnob.”

But I thought he was fantastic. And I’d book him again at a gig like this in a second.
