I love good food and L.A.’s great restaurants.
These are our personal top picks; the places we go to eat when we’re hungry or when want to have a little fun.
They are not necessarily in order of importance and none of them are clients.
1. The Cut — (310)-276-8500 — 9500 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills
What to order: Kobe Beef
Scene: This is Wolfgang Puck’s Steak House at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Tom Cruise has a standing Tuesday night reservation here. Steaks are flash cooked at 650 degrees to seal in the flavor.
2.Capo — (310) -394-5550 — 1810 Ocean Ave, Santa Monica
What to order: Frisee salad, four cheese tortelinni ravioli and bone in T-bone steak.
Scene: Chef Bruce Marder of West Beach Cafe fame presents the most delectable Tuscan culinary treats Los Angeles has to offer. Not for those with sticker shock.
What to order: Salmon, steaks, tri-tip enchilidas, wedge salad and grilled artichokes.
Scene: Not a bad table in the house. All booths. Impeccable service. Live jazz. Very, very consistent. Draws an ecclectic, well-to-do crowd of patrons. Dress is casual, but you wonuldn’t be out of place in a suit on a weeknight. Happening bar scene for mostly 30 and 40 somethings.
4. The Galley — (310) 452-1934 — 2442 Main St., Santa Monica
What to order: Little neck steamers to start and the steak & shrimp combo for the main course.
Scene: Sawdust on the floor, antique fishing tackle and boat paraphernalia hanging all around. Owned and operated by Captain Ron Shur, this place is charming as hell, but bring your own scene. Most tables are booths. Full bar.
5. Musso & Frank — (323) 467-5123 — 6667 Hollywood Blvd., HollywoodFe
What to order: Any steak or chop from the grill.
Scene: Featured in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, this place is the definition of vintage LA style. It’s right on Hollywood Blvd, so valet park and be conscious of your surroundings. When Woody Allen came out of seclusion to do a junket for “Small Time Crooks,” her did it here. Musso’s has been around forever and stands as one of the last remaining old Hollywood hang outs. You can wear what ever you want (I mean it). Full bar.
