The idea for Baby Celebration LA dawned on Penny Domschot during her most recent pregnancy, when she realized how difficult it was for expectant moms to shop at more than one baby boutique without driving all over town, struggling for parking and having to traipse in and out of tiny boutiques on an exhausting search for treasures befitting her precious arrival. So, mommie duo Patrice Meluskey and Penny Domschot decided to introduce an innovative approach to celebrating all things baby and debuted Baby Celebration LA in 2007. Due to the event’s unique selection of hand-picked, hard-to-find, trend-setting products, this new mother and baby celebration brings together what could be the largest collection of designer, boutique baby and mom products ever assembled. And as mass retailers continue to challenge neighborhood boutiques with low-cost licensed products based on mainstream media copyrights, Baby Celebration LA’s 2-day boutique showcase offers parents the ability to check out and purchase hundreds of trendy, up and coming baby products and fashions in an environment where the aisles are wide enough to push a stroller and where rest areas and baby changing stations are plenty so that expectant moms and parents of newborns and toddlers can shop in a relaxed, comfortable environment.

Baby Celebration LA is possibly the largest collection of upscale, trendy products for expectant moms, babies and toddlers in any one place. The event is bursting with colorful onesies, cuddly plush creatures, nursery design vignettes, innovative, one-of-a-kind product debuts, sensational seminars and lots of pampered mommies. All this, and the ability to find the newest hot products before celebrities get them, combine to make a fun fresh day for LA’s hippest moms and their trendy tots. 

Target Market
One important aspect of Baby Celebration LA is its high-end, niche target audience of expectant moms and new moms with children ages 0-5 looking for unique products beyond what’s available on the shelf at major mass retailers. Another big focus of Baby Celebration LA is making the shopping experience comfortable for attendees. From nap stations to play areas and foot massages, this event, which is geared towards the restless child and tired mother, has pulled out all the stops when it comes to comfort.

The consumer trade show industry has a reputation for selling mass merchandise to the general public so Ms. Meluskey and Ms. Domschot decided turn the look and feel of a typical trade show into something high-end and unique. Using their combined experience of over 25 years and specialization in high-end niche marketing from previous consumer trade shows, this duo has re-packaged the classic American consumer trade show into something exclusive and upscale. And, as a result, has captured an eager audience of followers.
