Brooke Shields Responds to Tom Cruise

In response to Tom Cruise’s recent Today interview with Matt Lauer, in which Cruise said he did not think Brooke Sheilds needed psychotherapy for port pardum depression, actor Brooke Shields — who is also the author of “Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression” — has a very personal response in the Op-Ed section of today’s NY Times.

What is interesting to me is that while publicist’s Ken Sunshine and Cindi Berger debate on network TV how the recent TomKat publicity will impact Cruise’s celebrity cachet over time, my wife, who has always been smitten for Cruise films, said she thought he was a real jerk after reading Shields column. She went on to say, “I have completely lost respect for him, and think he’s out to lunch.
