    Hal's attracts a more sophisticated clientele then the Hollywood meat markets. The place is tastefully decorated with art from some of L.A.'s most respected artists. Casual dress.

    Scene: Johnny Depp's cozy music club books some of the freshest rock and alternative bands. Tragically, a young River Phoenix overdosed on narcotics and died just in front of the establishment. A plaque memorializes the event. Casual dress.

    Scene: This is the hot place to swing dance to live music. Circular bar and free swing lessons every night. Vintage casual dress.
