Auletta Plugs Rathergate Feature in New Yorker on Charlie Rose

According to media business columnist Ken Auletta, whose story on Rathergate comes out in the March 7th issue of the New Yorker, the pressure for scoops played a big role in CBS’s decision to rush a story that Bush was excused from duty in the National Guard as a political favor, now proven false. Auleta appeared last night on Charlie Rose and said the question now is whether or not Dan Rather’s legacy (which includes asking difficult question to a number of U.S. Presidents, according to Rose) will be remembered largely for this failure.
